North-Western State Medical University (NWSMU)
North-Western State Medical University (NWSMU), located in St. Petersburg, Russia, is one of the oldest and largest medical schools in Russia. It was originally called St. Petersburg I.I. Mechnikov State Medical Academy until 2011. NWSMU is often called the “Second Medical College” in St. Petersburg, due to a name change in 1920.
Founded in 1907, NWSMU has trained over 35,000 doctors. The university began offering international programs in 1947, and over 3,500 students from more than 50 countries have graduated since then. Currently, the university has more than 5,000 students.

Eligibility Criteria
To apply for NWSMU, Indian students need to meet the following:
- Passed 12th standard with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English.

• 50th percentile or above (General/EWS)
• 40th percentile or above (SC/ST/OBC) - Must be at least 17 years old by December 31st of the admission year.

- Receive Invitation Letter: NWSMU will send an invitation letter after accepting your application.
- Apply for Russian Visa: Use the invitation letter to apply for a Russian visa.
- Document Attestation: Get documents attested by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and translated into Russian.
- Arrival & Registration: Upon arrival, undergo a medical test, obtain a residence permit, and register at NWSMU.
